Network Aviation’s pace-setting role in the Western Australia charter market.
As vaunted as the Virgin Group’s acquisition was of Skywest earlier this year, Qantas pre-dated the deal by Qantas more than two years. Although big news in the Western Australian mining community, but with much less fanfare, Qantas announced in December 2010 it was purchasing Perth-based Network Aviation, securing for both the mainline business and its newly fully-owned subsidiary a stronger foothold in the buoyant resources-led boom that has fuelled the Western Australian traffic growth.
At the time of announcing the deal, Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said the move into the WA fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) market would deliver the Group growth opportunities.
