Call for aircraft for aerial bushfire observing

written by australianaviation.com.au | July 1, 2013

The National Aerial Firefighting Centre of Australia (NAFC) is inviting tenders for the services of a small number of piloted, conventional, light fixed-wing aircraft for reconnaissance of bushfires and associated tasks during the bushfire season for three years beginning in 2013-14, with a possible extensions up to a total of five years.

At this stage the services sought will be based in South Australia and New South Wales only.
Aircraft will be expected to carry at least three passengers in addition to the pilot and must be capable of carrying out a charter operation under visual flight rules.

These services should not be confused with the specialist fire intelligence gathering aircraft services for which NAFC has separately sought tenders as part of the recent NAFC Invitation to Tender for Aerial Firefighting Services 2013+ process, which has now closed.
