250 and Counting
Qantas celebrates its 250th Boeing delivery
It’s a memorable milestone, if a little confusing. In early June Qantas celebrated the delivery of its 250th Boeing airliner and 100th Boeing 737 with functions and ceremonies built around the delivery flights of its 251st Boeing and 101st 737, 737-838 VH-XZG Bungendore.
The 250th ‘Qantas directly-ordered Boeing jetliner’ to be delivered was in fact 737-838 VH-XZF, which was delivered in May, but formalities to mark the milestone were centred around VH-XZG’s handover, which coincided with a visit to Seattle by Qantas and Jetstar executives in early June to see Jetstar’s first Boeing 787 in final assembly (see separate feature elsewhere this issue).
