The sight of a Qantas and Emirates A380 in formation over Sydney, whatever peoples’ views are on the alliance, was an awesome spectacle unlikely to be repeated . qantas

A380 formation flight marks Qantas-Emirates alliance

Sharon says: I work near the airport and was lucky enough to watch the planes, What a fantastic sight, truly awesome and hopefully a great partnership will follow. Good luck to both airlines! Qantas-Emirates alliance launches on the back of “Herculean” integration effort Dave Brown says: What a magnificent sight! I was fishing on Sunday approx 5km off Mona Vale when I witnessed the best fly-by one could ever imagine. There before my very eyes were two massive jets flying in unison and circling several times over our beautiful coastline. Congratulations Qantas & Emirates, WELL DONE!!! Sam says: I was on the first QF9 which was the first flight to arrive in Dubai. The crew were especially welcoming. Good stuff Qantas.

Qantas strikes industrial accord with flight attendants

Qantas international flight attendants have agreed a new EBA. Emirates and Qantas crews now share a common goal of customer service excellence, something that will be more readily supported by a stable industrial environment. qantas

Freddie says: The FAAA is a weak collection of people looking after their own interests and not those of their dwindling member base who pay their wages. If they were looking after the interests of all of their QF employees they would bargain in good faith for ALL of their cabin crew. Virgin cabin crew are up next for EBA negotiations and that will be an interesting one. They were sold down the line last time by the FAAA (so I’m told). A new organisation has been started within their ranks – called iCCC and so far, what it has been achieving is leaving the FAAA for dead. This will be a very interesting dust up. The iCCC is intent on bargaining for all of their supporting cabin crew regardless of aircraft type, years of service and many more issues. Watch this space – so I’ve been told.

Qantas-Emirates gets final okay

Lindsay B says: OK, everything is approved. How long do we wait until we determine if the tie-up is indeed as whizz-bang spectacular as we have been told it will be? John Harrison says: So that’s it for any Qantas passengers wishing to “go places” on a Qantas plane ex Perth overseas. Oh, wow… Singapore once a day. Gee the ever shrinking Qantas overseas network. I really have run out of words to speak about Qantas anymore.

Tom says: It’s one of those interesting paradoxes. If enough people flew with Qantas overseas from Perth they would maintain or consider increasing services. But so many choose to fly on rival airlines thereby making current Qantas services unviable leading to a reduction in services thereby leading to complaints that Qantas are not serving the passengers there. Fly with Qantas and you’ll ensure further Qantas service. It’s a message all those who complain need to hear.

Singapore close to F-35 order — reports

BH says: I was a little surprised by their choice of the B model… However, when you think about it due to the small size of the country and the vulnerability of its runways, having a fighter that doesn’t need a runway would be a bonus.

I was on the first QF9 which was the first flight to arrive in Dubai. Good stuff Qantas.
