Challenges aplenty for Australia’s MRO industry
There are some big issues facing Australia’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry – some long-standing challenges still without answers, while some new issues arise from the emerging strategies of airlines.
As Aviation/Aerospace Australia’s Jim Carden said: “It is a very challenging period for the MRO sector in Australia, with what one industry leader recently described as the ‘normal Australian dollar’ creating very difficult competitive position that is likely to remain with us for some time. ” While governments and MRO operators mobilise to counter adverse impacts, the industry itself is wondering what the ‘new normal’ is as economic influences, corporate strategies and skills shortages coalesce to create an uncertain future for MRO in Australia.
