Ka-32 certification by CASA a prelude to local entry into service? The Kamov Ka-32 is edging closer to operation in Australia following its certification by CASA in December. The airworthiness approval is a prelude to Russian Helicopters’ strong pitch to emergency services authorities to have the aircraft play a role in firefighting and airlift capabilities.
In a positive signal of local interest following the aircraft’s introduction to the Australian market at the Avalon Airshow, the Ka-32 has been included in a short-list of contenders for aerial firefighting by the National Aerial Firefighting Centre (NAFC).
