For Catalina enthusiasts Rathmines, NSW, was the place to be on November 3 when the HARS Catalina VH-PBZ landed on the waters of Lake Macquarie and taxied up the ramp at Catalina Memorial Park, the site of the WWII RAAF seaplane base.

The machine looked spectacular as the hull skimmed the surface of the lake and then slid into the water in front of an estimated 15,000 spectators.
