Gearing up for growler
CAF outlines RAAF EA-18G plans
“It’s a big strategic move,” Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Geoff Brown explains of the decision to acquire the Boeing EA-18G Growler electronic attack capability.
“It gives a level of independence in your operations,” CAF explains. “If you want to do some sort of covert insertion of a transport aeroplane, if you’ve got a jamming capability you can do that more covertly than we can do at the moment and with a lot less risk. In current scenarios in Afghanistan, in the counter insurgency fight, you can see that the US uses either a Prowler or a Growler sometimes as a counter-IED capability.”
