Growlers on exercise at Amberley
Even though the formal decision to acquire the EA-18G Growler for the RAAF was announced only in August, Australia has already gained valuable exposure to the electronic attack mission with three US Navy Growlers deploying to Amberley in September.
With 12 RAAF F/A-18F Super Hornets to be upgraded to Growler configuration, Australia is now on track to acquire a significant, full spectrum airborne electronic warfare capability, but to date it has little corporate knowledge of the electronic attack or SEAD mission upon which to draw.
