Following news of the appointment of new CEO Adrian Littlewood, Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL) has announced that chairperson Joan Withers will step down next year.
Withers, who has been on the board of AIAL since 1997, leaves the organisation in a strong position. AIAL posted a 41.2 per cent rise in profit after tax to NZ$142.8 million as a result of passenger growth and increased commercial activity.

Much of the growth has come from Emirates, which has launched a double-daily A380 service. The airline recently replaced is 777-300ER on services from Melbourne with the A380, adding 135 seats per flight.
