The opportunities and challenges of fly-in fly-out operations will be the subject of a special panel discussion during the Regional Aviation Association of Australia’s 2012 convention next month.

The panel, including senior executives from Alliance, Skywest, Skytrans, Sharp Airlines and Casair, will present an overview of operations, compliance, governance and the resources sector.

“The strong growth in the mining and resources sector presents great opportunities for regional aviation and RAAA members on many levels but also presents some challenges,” RAAA CEO Paul Tyrrell said. “The special FIFO presentation will provide essential information and active engagement, important to understanding and planning for FIFO operations.”

The RAAA convention will run from October 10-12 on the Sunshine Coast. For more information, visit the RAAA website.

Inside The Archive: F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet Comment

It was mentiond earlier in this piece by, Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld, that the FA-18 Hornet replaced the Mirage fighters. I thought the F-111 ‘Ardvark’ replaced the Mirage jets around 1967 till 1999 such as the Raaf 6th squadron. If my memory serves me correct the aircraft served our country well until they were superseded by the Hornets, which by the way are an exceptional fighter also.
