Kiwis to run LAX ‘super lounge’

written by australianaviation.com.au | July 31, 2012
Star Alliance airlines will move into the new LAX international terminal over the next two years.

Air New Zealand will design and operate a new Star Alliance ‘super-lounge’ at Los Angeles International Airport as it prepares to move into the airport’s upgraded international terminal.

The new lounge, which will be used by eight Star Alliance partners including Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and Swiss Air, will be three times the size of Air Zealand’s current lounge and will feature a bar, library, and outdoor terrace with views toward the Hollywood hills.

The announcement comes as airlines plan the switch from LAX’s rather dismal T2 to the Tom Bradley International Terminal, which is in the midst of a US$1.7 billion upgrade. The upgraded terminal, scheduled for completion in 2014, includes 18 additional gates and some 16722sq m of dining, shopping and retail space. Air New Zealand said it planned to open the lounge in May 2013.
