Airservices Australia has begun an overhaul of the terminal area radar near Perth Airport as part of a $90 million upgrade program.
Radar coverage during the upgrade will be provided by RAAF radar at Eclipse Hill and an Airservices en route surveillance radar at Kalamundra.

The upgrade will include installation of an improved solid state primary radar with a 60nm range and a Mode S capable Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar with a range of up to 256nm.
Airservices has so far upgraded seven radar systems as part of the Australian Mode S Terminal Area Radar program.
