SQNLDR Phil Frawley, the RAAF’s oldest fast jet pilot
As the Czech made L-39 jet lifts off the runway at Cessnock airport on another 15 minute warbird joyride, its passenger probably would not be aware that the pilot in command holds the title of ‘Oldest Fast Jet Pilot in the RAAF.’
The name of this 60 year old is Squadron Leader Phil Frawley (no relation to AA’s editor), a RAAF Reserve instructor who, when not flying warbirds, spends two out of every three weeks instructing trainee fighter pilots in the finer points of aerial combat.
