The spilt by the Qantas Group of its domestic and international operations sent analysts, media and commentators into a frenzy of speculation over the nature of the end game for the flying kangaroo.

From July 1 Qantas Airlines will be formally managed as two distinct businesses, each with its own CEO and its own operational and commercial functions. Their financial results also will also be reported individually.
