38SQN transitions from the Caribou to the King Air

As part of the ADF’s massive changeover in new equipment, and particularly that within the RAAF’s Air Lift Group (ALG) in recent years, 2009 finally saw the retirement of the venerable DHC Caribou transport and its interim replacement with the King Air 350.

As part of that transition, Townsville based 38SQN has undergone a massive upheaval in shedding nearly 75 per cent of its personnel, has entered into a partnership agreement with a civilian contractor, has taken on Army personnel, and has inducted a new generation of light transport aircraft.
