Garuda Indonesia has taken delivery of a new Boeing 737-800 which takes its total fleet size to 75 aircraft.

“The airline has an aggressive fleet expansion plan that is part of its ‘quantum leap’ transformation strategy,” said Garuda Indonesia president and CEO Emirsyah Satar. The airline plans to grow to a fleet of 116 aircraft by 2014, and will take delivery of 23 737-800s this year, both direct purchase and leased aircraft. These will assist Garuda with its plans to add more domestic and regional international frequencies.

Garuda’s current fleet includes 737-800s and 737 classics, 747-400s and Airbus A330s. It also recently swapped an order for 10 787-8s for 10 larger 777-300ERs.
