Mockup the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac) Used the Asian Aerospace Exhibition in Hong Kong to Unveil a Mockup and Release Details of Its Proposed 150 Seat C919 Aircraft. Seating 168 Passengers in an All-economy Layout or 156 in Mixed Class Layout, the C919 Will Have a Baseline Range of 2200nm (4075km), While Comac Also Plans to Produce a Longer Range Version Able to Fly 2967nm (5500km). No Details Have Been Released About the Materials Will Be Used in the Aircraft, but It is Planned to Make Its First Flight in 2014, With Certification and Entry Into Service During 2016. Comac is Currently in Negotiations With the Major Engine Manufacturers to Power the Aircraft, With a Decision on the Powerplants Due Later This Year. Aviation Industry Corporation of China (Avic) Commercial Engines is Also Understood to Be Focused on Developing an Indigenous Engine, but This is Unlikely to Be Available in Time to Meet Its Development Schedule. Comac Has Also Assumed Responsibility for the Arj-21 Regional Jet Program, Which is Expected to Enter Service Next Year With Kunpeng Airlines.
