The challenge of untangling WA’s “embarrassment”

In November last year former Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon declared that the privatization of Australia’s airports would be judged in the fullness of time as a failure.

In Perth, some argue, you don’t have to wait for the fullness of time for that failure appears to be there for all to see and worse, experience.
The seeds for the failure can be found back in 1997 when the airport was privatised with the winners bidders paying what was called a “top drawer price” of $643 million – a reported $100 million more than the closest bid.
