The sales team have sold the aircraft, the media have written millions of words on Airbus’s travails in giving birth to the giant jet, analysts have mocked it, interior designers have laboured over it and finally airline CEOs have clinked glasses and gushed over their “brilliant” decision to buy it.

But now the real judges – the passengers – have their turn.
