Mount Isa’s community rescue helicopter

A vast remoteness surrounds the far western Queensland mining town of Mount Isa, where much of the population of 20,000 toils in the many mines in and around the town that are riding the current resources boom.

Those residents take in their stride the daily dangers involved in extracting minerals like copper and zinc from the earth and living in the harsh environment of the remote Australian outback.
