Air Pacific has posted a $F14.2m profit before abnormals and tax for the year ended March 31, up on the$F12.7m result of the previous year. Profit after tax was $F8.6m. Lufthansa posted a profit on ordinary activities of DM756m on revenue of DM19.9bn, an increase on the previous year’s profit of DM734. The airline says the result would have been significantly higher had it not been for the Deutsche Mark’s appreciation against major currencies during the year. Revenue increased by 5.6% while operating costs increased by 2.9%.

John Forsyth has been appointed chairman of AirServices Australia, replacing John Pascoe who resigned. Following the takeover of AWADI by BAeA, Peter Smith, formerly AWADI’s chief, has become Managing Director of British Aerospace Australia, replacing Alastair Hodgson. Key changes at British Airways in Australasia sees National Accounts Manager Australia Jenny Lourey become Sales Manager Australia, while Rob Gurney, previously Manager British Airways — New Zealand and South Pacific has been appointed Marketing Manager South West Pacific. British Aerospace Asset Management’s new Australian office is headed by John Sutton. David Warner has been appointed AirServices’ Manager of the Sydney Airport Air Traffic Management Task Force. Qantas has appointed Francis Lou as its Manager China. Changes at Air Pacific sees Josephine Yee Joy become General Manager Commercial and Ramendra Narayan become General Manager Corporate Affairs and Company Secretary. Rex Banks has been appointed Chief Executive of Air Nauru, he was previously the Manager of Pacific Transair.
