Air New Zealand has leased the former Thai Airways International Boeing 747-2D7B HS-TGA for a three month period. The Boeing which had a minimal registration change from HS-TGA to ZK-TGA ferried into Auckland from Bangkok in early May on delivery to Air New Zealand. With Air New Zealand the Boeing 747 operates in a basic all white colour scheme which is only broken by the Air New Zealand titles on the forward fuselage and the Koru on the fin.
Delivered in November 1979, Boeing 747-2D7B msn 21782 is powered by four GE CF6-50E2 engines and was built on order for Thai Airways International. Thai Airways recently sold HS-TGA along with its five other Boeing 747-2D7B aircraft to the New York based freight operator Atlas Air. In turn Atlas Air plans to convert four of the six Thai Airways Boeing 747-200 aircraft to a freight configuration.
