Civil Aircraft Register Update
Register Review
Twenty four aircraft join the Australian register this month, exactly the same number that have been deleted, maintaining the status quo of more than 10,000 aircraft flying in this country including gliders. Helicopters again dominate the new allocations with Esso adding two more Sikorsky S-76Cs to its fleet based at Sale to service company oil platforms in Bass Strait and the Queensland Emergency Services adding a second Bell 412 in as many months to its fleet.
RES Nominees has acquired Kawasaki BK 117B BKL from Japan Aerospace, based at the ill fated Kobe heliport, and it joins two others of the same type, a Bell JetRanger and Bell LongRanger in the company’s hangar at Essendon airport. XVC is the fifteenth Robinson R44 Astro on the Australian register with at least one more example in the country but it’s not yet registered here. Five R44s fly in New Zealand and one in PNG and without doubt the type will, in a very short time, become the most popular four place helicopter in this part of the world.
