World Airways is set to take delivery of its first MD-11 freighter this month, joining a mixed fleet of passenger and cargo carrying DC-1Os and MD-11s. World says its MD-11s will carry 37% more cargo per flight over greater ranges with fewer expensive refuelling stops than its earlier generation DC-10 freighter. (World)

Qantas-Usair Codeshare:
Qantas and USAir have concluded a new codesharing arrangement which will see up to seven daily flights between Los Angeles and San Francisco operating under Qantas flight codes.
Qantas terminated direct flights between Australia and San Francisco on March 27 and will now concentrate solely upon services to Los Angeles. The USAir codeshare flights started in late March and will help fill the San Francisco gap. They will connect at Los Angeles to Qantas non stop flights to and from Sydney and Fiji • MORE QANTAS SEATS TO MEL- BOURNE AND QLD: Qantas has in- creased the number of available seats on domestic flights to and from Melbourne by 15% to more than 56,500 each week, an increase of about 7500 seats.
