Start of Aew&C Study in New Year
The Defence Department and Air Force will conduct a Project Definition Study (PDS) next year into the procurement of an Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system to enter the Royal Australian Air Force inventory towards the end of the century.
The PDS will identify a list of contenders, outline various proposals and options on acquisition strategy, and examine Australian Industry Involvement (AII) and the cost ranges. A Tri-Service/Defence team is being formed to carry out the study which is expected to rum from March to November. It will have Defence, RAAF, Army, Navy and Defence Science representatives.
