The Trinidad, like its less powerful sisters, is generally considered to be one of the best-looking GA singles on the market today. Overall performance meanwhile, puts the French import up there with the equivalent Mooney and Bonanza models. (Gerard Frawley & Jim Thorn)

Aerospatiale Socata Trinidad
Recently, through Eurocopter International Pacific, the marketer of Aerospatiale General Aviation products, I was able to satisfy a long standing wish to make the acquaintance of the Socata Trinidad.
I know that the aircraft has been on the Australian market for over a decade, but as a relative newcomer to the GA scene, I have not previously had the opportunity to make an assessment of the aircraft against what I consider to be its competitors.
Because of the unseasonable weather late last year, I was unable to fly up to attend the opening of Eurocopter’s new premises by the Prime Minister, Paul Keating, but managed to arrange a visit several weeks later during which I took the opportunity offered to fly the Trinidad.
