Govt Admits Sale of Jeta Mistake:
Queensland Premier Wayne Goss has admitted that his government made a mistake when it sold its 125-800, ‘the Joh jet’, for what were purely political reasons.
The sale, described at the time by virtually everybody except the government as foolish and narrow minded, resulted in the aircraft being sold at a substantial loss due largely to the timing and management of the sale. The 125’s replacement was a second hand Westwind which the government now admits costs almost as much to run, has less space, less range and depreciates at a faster rate than the 125.
