The number of aircraft officially registered by the CAA has remained fairly constant at 9430 over the last few months and with 38 aircraft added to the register and 36 deleted this issue the status quo remains, although the trend is toward smaller, often homebuilt, aircraft and away from light twins and turbo- props.

Of the homebuilt aircraft two more Rotorway helicopters, AKI and YCP, follow closely on the heels of the first example, ROT, whilst LRV becomes the fourth RV6 to fly in Australia. The RV6 is the latest development of the RV range designed by American Richard Van Grunsven. The RV3 single seat model and the RV4 two seater are popular with Australian and Kiwi home builders so we can expect to see even more RV6s being built in years to come.
