The Rolls-Royce Trent BOO which will ultimately develop up to 100,000Ib thrust is the most powerful engine of the Trent family. The Trent was recently selected by Cathay Pacific to power its Boeing 777s and Airbus A330s. Thus far the Trent has been selected for 28% of 777s ordered, while it also has over 40% of the A330 market. Certification is due next year.

MDC to Launch MD-12 in 1993:
McDonnell Douglas hopes to now officially launch its new four engine twin deck MD-12 during the second half of 1993.
While it had initially been anticipated that full scale development of the MD-12 would get underway this year, McDonnell Douglas has been working to further define the aircraft project. Primary cause of the delay is the lack of a firm agreement with Taiwan Aerospace Corporation on just how much funding they are able to bring to the project, if any. The best MDC have come up with to date in terms of an agreement is a provisional option on 20 aircraft for a Taiwanese leasing company.
