Give Qantas afair Go By Keeping It Australian!
It is perhaps ironic that the current recession and worldwide reduction in airline activity could well prove a godsend for those many forward thinking people who would prefer to keep both the ownership of Qantas and Australian Airlines in Australia rather than selling both offto foreign competitors just for the sake of the almighty dollar.
Since the ALP finally got approval from its Left Wing in September 1990 to privatise both Government owned carriers, the major shareholder has been hell bent on selling offa major portion of both airlines to foreign interests. The premise behind this action was simply that at that time a number of cash rich internationals might be interested in gaining entry to the local market.
