Raaf Keen to Prove Aew&C Realistic
Five overseas companies are bidding to convince Australian Defence Force (ADF) that they have the answers in providing an airborne early warning and control system which would make air defence of the continent more realistic.
The interest of the overseas companies has been stimulated by moves within the RAAF to make the AEW&C debate better defined on the Defence agenda of procurement items in the coming years. While the RAAF recognises that Navy is going to get the lion’s share (some would argue much more than the lion’s share) of the Defence cake this decade and that the atmosphere of restraint in other Defence spending will continue to apply, it firmly believes an AEW&C platform is an essential component for the proper defence of a vast Australian land and sea area of influence.
