Is Liability Insurance Ruining US GA
Product Liability Payouts Ruining The US General Aviation Industry
The US General Aviation Manufacturers Association believes that the recent surge in product liability suits against US GA manufacturers has the potential to ruin light aircraft production in North America.
The US has always had a ‘different approach to liability claims than the rest of the world. For years lawyers have operated virtually as commission agents to secure their, and their plaintiff’s, future security at the cost of millions to the companies litigated against.
Recent non-aviation examples of this would be the impending rash of suits in relation to women who used the Dalkon Shield contraceptive through the seventies and against Union Carbide over the Indian Bhopal disaster.
