Is the Market Picking Up?

Despite the parlous position of the Australian Dollar and the added cost of importing foreign manufactured goods, some recent sales have been chalked up by local helicopter distributors. Whether the industry has turned the corner’ for sure is not known though at least there are some encouraging signs. Rex Aviation have notched up another AS-350B sale with their former demonstrator VH-HRD being sold to Gold Coast developer Michael Gore. Delivery of this machine followed close on the heels of two other Squirrel deliveries – one to Leeuwin Helicopters in Perth and the other to the NSW Forestry Commission (as reported last issue). A Jet Ranger traded by Gore has been acquired by a Sydney medical practitioner.

Bell Helicopter Australia delivered a new Jet Ranger at the end of October as well. The machine went to the new government-owned helicopter company starting up in PNG-Nation-Air. The recent sale was the second BHA sale of a Jet Ranger to Nation-Air this year.
