Singapore Airlines has taken delivery of the first two of four 757s ordered from Boeing last year. SIA will take delivery of all four 757s by the end of the year. The airline began regional service with its fleet of Pratt & Whitney PW2037-powered 757s last December.

McDonnell Douglas Launches MD-87:
McDonnell Douglas has announced it is launching the MD-87, a new, smaller version of its MD-80 twin-jet, for delivery to airlines starting in 1987.
Two European airlines have announced the selection of the MD-87 after an extensive evaluation. Finnair will receive eight aircraft and Austrian Airlines four MD-87s, beginning in late 1987. Both airlines operate other versions of the MD-80. Austrian flies nine MD- 81s while Finnair currently operates three MD-82 aircraft and has ordered two extended-range MD-838 for delivery later this year.
