July was an interesting month in Australia as far as Airbus Industrie was concerned. During early July the Federal Government announced that it was not able to assist with providing $23 million finance for a 1.5% associatepartnershareholdingintheA320programmefortheAustralian aerospace industry. Within ten days of that announcement Airbus lndustrie and Sydney’s Hawker de Havilland jointly announced the signing of an order by Al for 300 chipsets of wing rib kits for the new 150-passenger A320 airliner. Valued at $24.4 million, the order continues the work HdHhave already built up over the past few years with the Airbus wing contracts via British Aerospace. Meanwhile the Department of Industry and Commerce were planning to announce the outcome of are view of government policies on the the aerospace industry as we closed for press.
