Government Says ‘No’ to Airbus Stakebutairbus Says ‘Yes’Tolocal Offsets:

July was an interesting month in Australia as far as Airbus Industrie was concerned. During early July the Federal Government announced that it was not able to assist with providing $23 million finance for a 1.5% associatepartnershareholdingintheA320programmefortheAustralian aerospace industry. Within ten days of that announcement Airbus lndustrie and Sydney’s Hawker de Havilland jointly announced the signing of an order by Al for 300 chipsets of wing rib kits for the new 150-passenger A320 airliner. Valued at $24.4 million, the order continues the work HdHhave already built up over the past few years with the Airbus wing contracts via British Aerospace. Meanwhile the Department of Industry and Commerce were planning to announce the outcome of are view of government policies on the the aerospace industry as we closed for press.

Saab-Fairchild 340 First Aircraft Ever to Receive Joint Certification:

For the first time In aviation history, the civil aviationauthoritiesof1 O countries have joined tocertificateanaircraftunder the new JAR (Joint Airworthiness Regulation). The 10 nations include Belgium, West Germany, France, Finland, Great Britain, Holland, Norway, Switzerland and Sweden. Additionally, it is planned to offer jointFAA Certification simultaneously as was the case with the SF-340 The 35-seat SF-340commencedregularscheduledservices with Crossair in Europe in June and Comair of CincinnattiinJulywhilelocally, KendellAirlines of Wagga will place the first of two such aircraft into service in December this year.
