Airtest – Piper Aerostar
High Flying Aerostar
Piper’s Aerostar must surely rank among the classic twins of this century…
With not-so-distant cousins in the immortal Aero Commander line and Israel’s Westwind (after all, they came from the same Ted Smith genius), the Aerostar line shows unmistakable brilliance and design flair – that difference which, claims Piper, makes it fly higher, faster, further and more economically than any other aircraft in its class.
Piper bought Ted Smith Aerostar in 1978 and very sensibly kept the design in its entirety, working on the simple and very effective principle of not changing a good thing just for the sake of it.
