Airbus Derivatives Planned
The aviation success story of the 1970s, the Airbus, is preparing to meet the new decade with a number of growth derivatives. Plans to stretch the baste 84 airframe to create the 330 seat 89 version are well under way while a 811 aircraft would be powered by four engines and would be capable. of operating at ranges out to 6000 nautical miles. The total number of orders for Airbus aircraft exceeded the four hundred mark.
Indonesia to Develop New Aircraft
Nurtanio Aircraft Industry of Indonesia is joining with Spain’s CASA to develop a 35 seat transport aircraft Nurtanio currently licence build CASA C-212 transports and 80105 Helicopters at their Bandung facility. Nurtanio currently build one example of each type a month and plan to double this production rate by 1981. Licence production of the Aerospatiale Puma SA-330 will commence during the next two years. The all Indonesian 35 seat transport project is expected to be available to customers by 1985 by which time Nurtanio will have more than quadrupled its current labour force.
