A preliminary report into the accident has revealed that investigators are using footage recorded from a GoPro installed in the cockpit to piece together what went wrong during the incident that left pilot Glenn Collins seriously injured.

Separately, the airline has also revealed that 5.7 million passengers were targeted in total, and broken down the number of those whose names, emails, phone numbers, and other data fields were compromised.

Drones will be remotely piloted beyond visual line-of-sight along highways around Greater Sydney, with the first units installed on the M1 at Mooney Mooney and the Hume Highway at Narellan. This will allow spotters to see accidents and traffic jams more quickly, the state government has said.

The 26-year-old aircraft, MSN 28595, was last operated by Georgian Airlines as a freighter after its conversion in 2022, having previously flown for carriers including Malaysia Airlines and Airitaly. It joins ASLA’s first B737-800BCF, VH-CYK, which was delivered in May 2024.

Three of the combat utility helicopters have been transferred to the Army Aviation Training Centre in Oakey, establishing the Army’s second UH-60M Black Hawk operating node.

The trial, which initially included 38 routes between Australian/New Zealand and Indonesian/Singaporean airspace, will be extended to include the national air navigation service providers of Papua New Guinea and Fiji, as well as three additional airlines.
