Skykraft, a Canberra-based space services company, is working with Airservices on the project and hopes to have the first tranche of satellites operational later this year.

It comes after the federal government performed a U-turn on Monday and said those arriving from China would be required to show proof they didn’t currently have the virus. The decision followed similar moves by countries including the UK, US and Italy.

It comes after it was revealed that there were 340 instances of ‘uncontrolled airspace’ since June last year in areas usually monitored by staff in towers.

Engineers replaced the faulty sensor earlier this week, and the aircraft, VH-OQH, was deemed safe to fly by the airline’s engineers and an Airbus representative.

Daniel Duggan, now an Australian citizen, still has multiple avenues to appeal, including to the Federal and High Courts, and had earlier signalled he would fight the decision.
