The Nauru flag carrier will continue its weekly Australia–North Pacific Connector service, which operates from Brisbane to Palau via Nauru, Tarawa, Majuro and Pohnpei, with the new agreement running until 21 October 2025.

In its 10th annual corporate tax transparency (CTT) report, the Australian Tax Office found that Qantas and Virgin were among 31 per cent of large businesses, or 1,253 companies, which reported no income tax paid for the 2023 financial year.

Newly released figures cited by The Sydney Morning Herald have shown that the government took in $109 million from Sydney’s two airport stations over the past year and a total of $740 million since it began taking an 85 per cent cut of station revenue in 2014.

The move is Australia’s contribution to multinational efforts to enforce United Nations Security Council sanctions against North Korea.

The redevelopment, supported by the Tasmanian and Commonwealth governments and set to open in 2027, would increase capacity for both fixed and rotary aircraft and was an election promise from Premier Jeremy Rockliff’s victorious Liberal government in March this year.

Canada and Malaysia will have unlimited passenger capacity to and from Australia starting in 2026, with an immediate increase to 50,000 weekly seats to Malaysia and 50 weekly flights to Canada.
