The carrier will put on extra flights between 18 December and 21 January, catering for what it says is a “surge in demand”, with bookings in both directions “exceeding expectations” since the Melbourne–Hobart route was launched in August.

Starting 21 November, the Vietnamese low-cost carrier will fly direct from Ho Chi Minh City to Perth five times per week – up from its previously-announced two services per week – as well as from Ho Chi Minh City to Adelaide via Perth five times per week.

Dubbed Dunreath Village, the centre – which also features a Sushi Hub and a Priceline chemist – is within walking distance of Redcliffe Station in the Airport West precinct and will trade from 7am to 9pm on weekdays and 7am to 7pm on weekends and public holidays.

Speaking before the Senate Select Committee on Commonwealth Bilateral Air Service Agreements on Tuesday, Kaine described “issues at Qatar that are well known, both in Australia and internationally”, particularly around female and LGBTQ+ workers.

The airline will fly five times weekly from Manila into Sydney, up from three, and three times weekly into Melbourne, up from two. In addition, it is now flying the A330neo on its Australian services, increasing capacity by five per cent over the A330-300.

It comes after Australia’s newest carrier surprisingly revealed that Canadian airline Flair would send aircraft and crew to fly Bonza-branded flights in the Australian summer, while Bonza would reciprocate and send its planes and people to Canada during the North American peak season.
