Air New Zealand has announced extra flights to bring Kiwi cricket fans to Melbourne for this year’s Boxing Day test match at the MCG.
Two additional Boeing 777-200ER Auckland-Melbourne flights will operate on Christmas Day afternoon and early Boxing Day morning. The remainder of the almost 1,000 extra seats will be made available by deploying Air New Zealand’s 214-seat A321neo aircraft on two flights from Christchurch and two from Auckland.

“This fixture will be a must do for many Kiwi cricket fans and given the Black Caps’ form we expect seats to be snapped up quickly,” Air New Zealand chief revenue officer Cam Wallace said on Friday.
The Black Caps will be playing in the Boxing Day test match for the first time in over 30 years.
