Organised by the AMDA Foundation, Avalon Airshow is by far Australia’s largest air show and aerospace trade event and is run in collaboration with the Royal Australian Air Force and Victorian state government. Earlier this year, the 2027 event dates were firmed up, with Avalon due to take off from 23–28 February 2027.

The expo, to be hosted at the Cairns Convention Centre, will open for exhibition and sponsorship opportunities next year. It follows a successful show in 2026, with 125 exhibiting companies attending the Gold Coast event in May.
The NZ$3.9 billion overhaul, which will see a new domestic terminal linked directly to the existing international terminal, began in 2024 and is slated for completion in 2028. It will replace the old domestic terminal, much of which dates from the 1960s and '70s.
Mike Hirst, a board member of Adelaide Airport since 2023, will take over from Rob Chapman in late November, bringing “more than 40 years of experience in board and senior executive leadership roles within retail banking, treasury, funds management and financial markets”.
