iscoverThe federal government has approved a revised development plan for Darwin International Airport, aiming to give passengers a smoother transition between domestic and international flights.
More check-in desks, boarding gates and gate lounge seating are proposed in the airport’s revised expansion plan, as well as improved access for disabled passengers to cater for an expected growth in passenger numbers to 2.9 million by 2016.

“The planned terminal expansion will see a 55 per cent increase in floor area upon its completion, which is scheduled for the end of 2013,” federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese said in a statement.
“The current design is geared to the low cost carrier model and will allow for the continued growth of the Jetstar hub as well as flexibility to accommodate new airline operators in the future,” he added.
