Trent 180 Minute Etops
The 72,000lb (322.5kN) thrust Rolls-Royce Trent 700 has been granted 180 minute ETOPS (extended range twin operations) approval on the Airbus A330. Approval results from a successful program which demonstrated a high level of in-service reliability under ETOPS rules as well as development endurance testing designed to simulate arduous airline operation, required for the 120 minute ETOPS approval granted last December. The Trent-powered A330 entered service in March 1995 and has accumulated more than 20,000 hours’ service with Cathay Pacific and Dragonair. Other customers include Garuda Indonesia, TWA, Gulf Air and ILFC.
