Commercial Expected ILFC Orders Big
Leasing company ILFC has ordered a total of 38 various Airbus airliners, including the first orders for the recently launched A330-200, and 18 additional Boeing 777s. ILFC’s Airbus order comprises 26 members of the widebody A330/A340 family — 13 of the new long-range A330-200 twins, one A330-300, and 12 A340-300s (270-tonne MTOW) — and 12 narrowbodies comprising three A319s, six A320s, and three A321s. Options were placed on a further five A330/340s and three A319s, A320s, or A321s.
The 777 order is made up of a mix of 777-200s and 777-300s and two options, with the final model mix to be decided later on. Deliveries of the A340s are due from May 1997, the single-aisle Airbuses from January 1998, and the A330-200s from April 1998. Deliveries of the 777s will begin in 1999 and continue through to 2004. Both orders combined are estimated to be valued at almost $US6bn.
