United Airlines Took Delivery In January Of The 500Th Airbus A320 Twinjet Built, The 22Nd To Be Delivered To United, The World's Largest Airline, In A Total Firm Order Covering Some 50 Aircraft United Airlines took delivery in January of the 500th Airbus A320 twinjet built, the 22nd to be delivered to United, the world's largest airline, in a total firm order covering some 50 aircraft. At press time the A320 family, which includes the stretched A321 and the shortened A319, had won over 850 orders from 39 customers. It was reported that these actions satisfied them that all the landing gear was locked.

Ansett 747 Accident Report Points To Possible Lack Of Crew Interaction As The Most Likely Cause
Unable to access the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) readouts crucial to its investigations, Ansett Australia has concluded its own internal enquiries into the 747-300 mishap involving VH-INH at Sydney on October 19 last year. Julian Green reports that the airline has not been able to pinpoint any single factor contributing to the aircraft’s nosegear failure. The aircraft, leased from Singapore Airlines, was carrying 253 passengers to Osaka from Sydney when a significant loss of oil was detected in the number one engine. An engine shutdown was effected and the decision made to return to Sydney where there were adequate technical and passenger facilities. In command of the aircraft was a former Cathay Pacific Senior Check Captain with 21,500
