The Ether Fighter Senses A Radar Probe

The Ether Fighter senses a radar probe and drops its nose, sniffing the electronic air for emissions. The ragged edge of energy from a Doppler radar is sensed, and as the fighter moves along its mission flightpath, it locates the exact position of the radar transmitter. Moving a few degrees starboard, it flies away from the site, sidling around the transmitter to drop the doppler shift of any stray reflections. Now at 50 metres, it skims the tree tops, sending an occasional downward radar probe to cross check its position with the GPS Mk 3.

The GPS signals are coded to deter deception jamming, but nothing stands still on this highly technological battlefield. Only last month, four Ether Fighters were lost as they were lured into granite filled clouds by false navigation transmissions, so now each aircraft cross checks its location in this fast moving battle of technology. No nation can change the shape of the earth enough to defeat the Fighter’s internal terrain map, and its laser gyro also cross checks two other navigation systems to keep it on track.
