On the Airbands

I ran into an old friend of mine, NRMA Careflight pilot Dan Tyler, at a fundraising event for Careflight recently, at Wiley Park in Sydney, where I was PA announcer for the day.

It was organised by the Campsie Police Highway Patrol from NSW, and was a lot of fun. During the day, I also renewed acquaintances with Careflight Director Ian Badham, and the rescue service’s Dauphin engineer Mark Cruse.

Dan Tyler and I had a chat off by ourselves prior to him flying the three tonne machine out of the reasonably tight area in which he had set it down five hours earlier. We discussed recent trips of ours to America, and Dan told me a story which he heard in Los Angeles last November.
